So how about a commercial jingles theme week for American Idol? After all, everything except for the singing is a commercial--so why not make it complete?
Plus, they're short, so AI could do top 12 week in, oh, maybe half an hour.
There are lots of great commercial jingles out there. Barry Manilow wrote many of them in the 70's. There's a medley of his jingles on his Barry Manilow Live! album (no, I don't have it, but my sister did).
Also, extra points for Coke and Ford commercials. Negative points for Pepsi and GM.
Wouldn't a medley of the Oscar Mayer wiener commercial (Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener...) and the bologna commerical (My baloney has a first name...) be fabulous?

The nice thing about some of the adverts is that they used songs or singers that are not well-known and made them better known to the public. A couple of example - T-mobile advert with Vashti Bunyan's "Just Another Diamond Day", and Lexus car advert with Martin Grech's "Open Heart Zoo". Unfortunately I can't find both adverts on YouTube, but here are a couple of videos that them as the background music -
